This Privacy Policy explains what information BaseRates ("BaseRates," "we," "us") collects when you use our website and application, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using BaseRates you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information — the email address and password you provide when you register. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
Content you create — the tickers, assumptions, and analyses you run and save.
Usage data — pages viewed, features used, and interactions, collected through our product-analytics provider to help us understand and improve the product.
Diagnostic data — technical error reports and related metadata collected when something goes wrong, so we can fix it.
Cookies — used to keep you signed in and to support analytics (see Section 4).

2. How we use your information

To operate the service — authenticate you and save your work.
To understand usage and improve features.
To diagnose, debug, and prevent errors and abuse.
To communicate with you about your account when necessary.

3. Service providers

We share limited data with vendors who help us run BaseRates. Each processes data only to provide their service to us:

Supabase — authentication and database (your account and saved analyses).
Vercel — application hosting.
PostHog — product analytics.
Sentry — error monitoring.
Financial Modeling Prep — market data. We send them the ticker symbol you request; we do not send them your personal information.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (to keep your session active) and for analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent you from logging in.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information and saved analyses only while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us at hello@base-rates.com; when you do, your saved analyses are deleted along with it.

6. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures. As with any online service, security can never be absolute, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

7. Children

BaseRates is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above.
